ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia has achieved a new milestone with the installation of the two central columns for its new purpose-built maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center at Malaysia’s Subang Airport. Each column is made of forged steel and is 12 meters long and weighs 45 tons.

“The installation of these columns is an important milestone. These two columns are the first structural part of the hangar to be installed and are there to support the weight of the hangar roof,” says Ivan Lim, Regional VP Asia for ExecuJet MRO Services.

“Construction is progressing as planned, and we look forward to opening the facility in early 2024”, says Lim.

In the first phase of construction, foundation works including piles and pile-caps that prepare the site for the superstructure were laid, completing the groundwork after which the two steel columns were installed.

ExecuJet MRO Services is the largest business aviation MRO in Malaysia and its decision to move into a new, larger purpose-built facility will further reinforce Malaysia’s position as a center for MRO in the region.

Lim adds: “We have grown tremendously over the years with the support of our customers all over the region. As Southeast Asia’s business aviation market continues to grow, it merits a large investment in MRO capacity and expertise.”

The new facility will have a gross floor area of approximately 149,500 sq. ft. The hangar will be able to accommodate approximately 10-15 business jets of various sizes simultaneously, such as the ultra-large Dassault Falcon 10X. The facility will be replete with corporate offices, customer lounge areas, dedicated apron area, and back shops.

Lastly, the new hangar will also have environmentally friendly features, such as use of solar power, energy-efficient LED lights and rainwater-harvesting water tanks, as part of the Group’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility commitment.
