On Friday, 7thJune 2019, 28 Grade 5 school children from Vuleka St. Marks Northriding School arrived at ExecuJet MRO Services’ Lanseria facility in Johannesburg for a tour and to learn more about careers in aviation. Mr Kobus Scheepers, Maintenance Supervisor and Miss Kelly Anne Flint, MRO Client Liaison took the 28 neatly dressed boys and girls on a tour of the ExecuJet hangar. This is quite a privilege due to the very strict rules and regulations that a maintenance facility needs to adhere to, as well as the privacy of the elite clientele that ExecuJet hosts.

The children were briefed outside of the hangar on the safety regulations that would need to be adhered to. Thereafter they were safely escorted over the facility apron and past the flight line of luxurious corporate jets lined up in the sunshine and then finally walked through the brightly lit up hangar.  The hangar was squeezed full to capacity with different sized, privately owned corporate jets including Global Express’, Gulfstreams, Falcons, Hawkers, Learjets and a few more.

The 28 bright minds did not leave any question unasked and took full advantage of the opportunity to enquire about everything, from the theory of flight, to how much a pilot earns.  It was lovely to see the interest of so many little, young ladies and gentlemen.

One of ExecuJet MRO Services’ valued client pilots visited the facility and was happy to answer some questions. When asked the question by one of his adoring young fans, as to whether being a pilot was hard, he simply answered that it is not by any means easy, but nothing in life is too hard for you to achieve if it is your dream. He also shared the theory of flight on request of one of the little gentlemen, and after a very thorough explanation, he asked the boy whether his question had been answered. The young man responded coolly: “not really but that’s okay”, which left the adults in the room in stitches of laughter.

It was an absolute privilege to have the children visit our facility as ExecuJet MRO Services acts very proudly on our beliefs to empower and enrich the lives of our younger generations.
